Celtic 1998/99 Retro Home Shirt

Based on the kits worn in the 1997/98 and 1998/99 seasons, this retro jersey takes you back to a time when Celtic Park played host to some of the best talent in the world. In the 1997/98 season, with local rivals Rangers having won nine-straight SPL titles going back all the way to 1988/89, Celtic spent big in the transfer window and added the likes of Henrik Larsson, Paul Lambert and Craig Burley to an already strong team. After a gruelling, closely fought contest between Glasgow’s biggest clubs, the title came down to the final day of the season, and Larsson and Burley scored first to give the Bhoys a commanding lead and secure a first league title for the club in a decade.

Celtic failed to retain their title in the following season, but Larsson continued to dominate Scottish football, recording a remarkable 29 goals in the SPL and 38 goals across all competitions. Perhaps most importantly, the club’s clever squad building set the foundations for the future dominance Celtic would enjoy in the early 2000s.
